TECHNICAL TOUR TO ŻELAZNY MOST

A technical tour to “Żelazny Most” tailings pond will take place on 8th September 2011 (Thursday). It is one of the biggest object of this kind in the world: actual capacity is 310 mln m3, maximal height of dam – 60 m, length of dam – 14,1 km, pond surface – 1410 ha.

Kilometers of pipelines made from different materials (diameter of 1000 mm, 800 mm and 600 mm) deliver flotation tailings to the pond. There are a few pumping stations of flotation tailings and a few pumping stations of used water from the pond to ore concentration plants. Unique structural solutions of dewatering towers are used to receive used water from OUOW.

After sightseeing the pond, dinner will be served at the mining canteen.

On the way back we are planning to visit the Lubiąż Castle.

Departure (by bus) – at 8.30 in the morning from the Hotel of John Paul II at św. Idziego Street.

Return – about 4.30 in the afternoon.

Social program for accompanying persons will be prepared at their request.

Post-conference tour (a half-day tour and a day tour) will soon be offered.
