Delft, with its beautiful preserved historic city center with its canals is the home of Delft Blue, the famous ceramics which have been produced in this city for many centuries. It is also the city of the House of Orange (the Dutch Royal house) and painter Johannes Vermeer. The city also forms a suitable basis to visit other cities in the Netherlands. Travelling to the heart of Amsterdam takes less than one hour using public transport.

Although the University only received its current name in 1986, it has been providing technical education for 165 years. TU Delft cooperates with many other educational and research institutions, both in the Netherlands and abroad. The high quality of their research and teaching is renowned. TU Delft has numerous contacts with governments, trade associations, consultancies, industry and small and medium-sized companies.

The Faculty of Mechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineering houses the Department of Dredging Engineering. The dredging engineering (DE) section is active at DUT since 1926. During the early years mainly involved in teaching but since the last decades involved in research on the field of dredging technology.

The conference takes place at Deltares. Deltares is an independent institute for applied research in the field of water and subsurface, is a 15 minute walk from the University. There are two busses calling at Deltares. All information can be found here.
